It has been said again and again that the Page Rank of a site doesn't affect it's position in the SERPs. You can easily see the Proof in above Picture, but there are still a lot of people confuse and asking about what is importance of a website’s PR ?.
The importance of PR only matters if you are going to sell advertising space on your site or just want to sell your site to other party.
Now, what about the PR of the websites from where you get your backlinks ?
Google doesn't count Page rank of your website when ranking in the search engine results page (SERPs). But the PR of the pages from which you get the Backlinks matter more .
Basically, Higher Page Rank sites are better than Lower Page Rank sites when it comes to improving your website’s PR. For instance, for example if you get 10000 backlinks of high page rank site are the equal to 50000 backlinks from lower rank site This simply means that by just getting backlinks from high PR sites, the position of your website in the SERP will improve.
Summary.
SERP position of any site depends on the backlinks for a specific keyword.
PR of any site depends on the quality and TOTAL amount of all backlinks.
